Hey,
This is the one we've been waiting to write.
Assembly of the NECCST Series 1 is complete, and shipping begins on March 27, 2026. The first production grinders. Not prototypes, not samples, not pre-production units. Packed, labeled, and ready to go out into the world.
It's been nearly three years since we started this project in the summer of 2022. And sitting here now, looking at rows of finished grinders in their boxes, the feeling is hard to describe. Relief, pride, exhaustion, and excitement, all at once.
The Road Here
If you've been following our Journal, you know the story in pieces. The first 3D printed prototype on a desk. The second one that finally got the dial right. The CNC metal build from a workshop in Bavaria that made us think: okay, this could actually be real. The production-ready prototypes that blew our minds when we unboxed them. The Kickstarter campaign that proved other people cared about this as much as we did.
And then came the hard part. The part that doesn't show up in product photos.
Upgrading from 47mm to 63mm titanium-coated burrs mid-development because it was the right call. Redesigning the grind setting dial to separate the scale ring from the adjustment mechanism. Switching from cast to CNC-machined gear blocks after Frankfurt revealed tolerances we couldn't accept. Solving the static issue on the black base. A surface coating defect on the stands that stopped assembly just days before we were supposed to start shipping.
Each of these moments felt like a setback at the time. Looking back, each one made the product better. Not a little better. Meaningfully better. The grinder shipping today is not the same grinder we showed on Kickstarter. It's significantly more refined, more precise, and more robust.

What We Learned
Building a hardware product from scratch (designing, engineering, manufacturing, and delivering it) is one of the hardest things you can do as a small team. There's no simulation for it. You learn by doing, and doing means failing, fixing, and trying again.
A few things we'd tell anyone starting this journey:
Real-world testing is non-negotiable. We thought our workshop tests were thorough until Frankfurt showed us otherwise. There's no substitute for handing your product to a stranger and watching what happens.
Quality compounds. Every shortcut you skip early saves you from a bigger problem later. We delayed multiple times. Each delay was painful. Each one was worth it.
Community matters more than marketing. Our Kickstarter backers didn't just fund us. They kept us going. When we posted about the coating setback in January, expecting frustration, we got messages like: "Take your time. We'd rather wait for something great." That kind of trust is earned, and it's also a responsibility.
What's in the Box
Every NECCST Series 1 ships with the grinder, a Ground Shaker catch cup, a quick start guide, and two hex keys. If you ordered the GBW version, the NECCST Scale is integrated into the base, magnetically docked and ready to go, along with a USB-C cable and a 100g calibration weight.
Thank You
We started NECCST because we believed coffee grinding could be better. Not just faster or more convenient, but more precise, more intentional, more satisfying. We wanted to build a tool that made the daily ritual of making coffee feel like it mattered.
Nearly three years later, that tool is real. And it's on its way to you.
Get your beans ready.
