A father and son, a Munich design studio, and one belief: that grinding coffee should feel as good as it works.
NECCST stands for New Eckstein Coffee System. It began in the summer of 2022 as a project inside Eckstein Design, a Munich studio. The frustration was simple. Most grinders make you choose between precision and pleasure: either they are exact but joyless, or pleasant but vague. We wanted both, in one tool you reach for every morning.
So we did what the studio always does. We watched how people actually grind, built prototype after prototype, and refined for nearly three years, until every turn of the dial felt self-evident. The Series 1 is the result. It went on to win a Red Dot Design Award.
Good design does not explain itself. It just feels right.
CEO and co-founder
Stefan founded Eckstein Design in 1995 and has spent decades turning complex ideas into award-winning, user-focused products. For ten years he served as president of the VDID, the German association of industrial designers. At NECCST he protects the things that make a product feel timeless and obvious in the hand: proportion, ergonomics, restraint.
CTO and co-founder
Fynn leads the creative and technical direction, from the mechanism to the brand. He studied industrial design in Munich and worked abroad in London and Milan before NECCST. His approach is hands-on and detail-driven, building products from the inside out, so the engineering and the feel arrive at the same place.
NECCST was born at Eckstein Design and is designed and engineered there, in Munich. It is the same discipline the studio has applied to demanding products for decades, now pointed entirely at coffee. That is where the look, the mechanism and the feel all come from.
